Trees
For some this will sound absolutely silly and some will understand. I have always loved trees, watching them grown, change in the seasons, just trees. I even have several trees that I have selected as "mine" and especially love to be able to see these massive, ancient trees and how they are growing.
So when a massive machine ends up on our farm I couldn't understand what it was for, then I found out we had sold the logs off the farm. Trees. Now in the grand scheme of things, logs are harvested every 30-40 years, this just happens to be the time for the harvest. I understand that trees have a purpose and that they are meant to be used, but still it was hard to see the trees cut and harvested.
About 350 trees cut, turned into about 1,000 logs. You can see the barcode stickers on some of the logs, those were the ones that they were willing to buy. There were many logs with green x's, not willing to buy, some for sold for pallets but some were not sold.
Yes we still have many trees, will the forest repair itself and allow other trees to grow larger, yes. But it still hard for me and that is just me. In the bigger picture it reminds me of the sheep and the goats, or the wheat and tares, some will be taken and some will be left in the time of harvest. I will have Jesus's barcode on me but who will have the green x's.

New Desk!
I had been looking for several months for a new desk to replace the monster that was in the corner of the kitchen. We went to a large flea/antique mall in Lexington and was able to find this one. It is beautiful and is solid oak. Very pleased with how it looks and it does take up less space than the other one.

Girls on the Run 5K
Last Saturday, May 12 I was involved in that Girls on the Run 5K at Paul Brown Stadium. We had practiced and ran and worked with the 5th grade girls from Dry Ridge Elementary.
This was not my first 5K, but it was my 1st to run. That is saying a lot. Finishing time- 39:40. I was able to run most of the 1st mile without stopping. For me that was an accomplishment.
Most of the team, I am the short one in the back. |

A Wonderful Mother's Day 2012
I have had a wonderful Mother's Day. It started on Thursday with Gary helping get the flowers for the yard. He helped get the beds ready and I started planting on Friday. Tiff and Josh had flowers delivered to me at school. A nice surprise.
Sunday morning, I got to speak with Krystal and Brad in South Asia, the blessings of technology.

Flowers for Mother's Day. My wonderful husband made the flower box for me and helped me with the flowers around the yard that we can enjoy all summer.
The clematis is beautiful right now. |
